Ommm not Errrm

December 16th, 2009

Just installed this application recently. Designed to help clear the mind and focus your attention purely on the joy of writing. I was amazed to discover this really works. Not sure how you would write a novel for example but if you’re the kind of creative that needs to clear some space for a bit of copywriting this is a great tool. Here’s what the creators of ‘Ommwriter’ had to say:

“Ommwriter is a humble attempt to recapture what technology has snatched away from us today: our capacity to concentrate.

Ommwriter is a simple text processor that firmly believes in making writing a pleasure once again, vindicating the close relationship between writer and paper. The more intimate the relation, the smoother the flow of inspiration.

If you are a scriptwriter, blogger, journalist, copywriter, poet or just someone who enjoys writing, welcome back to concentrating.”

App Advice

August 14th, 2009

This week Smashing Magazine have published a couple of articles relating to iPhone Application design. Having recently completed the design for my first one, they have been really useful in terms of confirming what is ‘best practice’ and the process of creating something for a relatively new medium. You can read thearticle about overdeisgning various elements HERE, and the basics of creating an application HERE. They are well worth bookmarking should you ever need it.

Starbucks/iPhone Mashup

November 3rd, 2008

So far I have managed to resist the pull of the iPhone but just when I thought it was safe Genoco have developed an iPhone application making ordering your favourite beverage much easier and quicker. No word on whether or not this has been picked up by Starbucks but it certainly is a neat idea with a beautiful interface.
