Just finished reading through ‘New Species’ a book showcasing the best of contemporary character design in Asia. I have to say, character design is one of the services we offer that I enjoy the most and there are some great and highly varied examples in this book that serve as great inspiration.

8 Days on the Oregon Trail

October 26th, 2009

I’ve always dreamed of taking a huge road trip. I’d love to visit Portland, Oregon again and take a trip down the coast to California. Illustrator, Matt Sundstrom has just taken a 3,700 mile trip along the Oregon trail. Starting in New Hampshire and traveling across the country, taking in many sites and no doubt a good dose of inspiration along the way. He recorded his trip in his own distinctive style and you can check it out HERE.

Poster Cabaret

October 26th, 2009

I think I may need to move to a house or studio with a lot more wall space. Found the site Poster Cabaret (HERE) over the weekend. Featuring quite a few artists previously mentioned on this blog it is a great place to find hundreds of fantastic art prints and gig posters from well-known leading artists.

Click For Art

September 23rd, 2009

Loving the website clickforart.com! Great illustrations and artwork for a reasonable price, you can even get supersize versions of a select few that measure 2m x 1m. Here’s a couple of my favourites but you can view the huge collection HERE.

Heartless Video

August 17th, 2009

Saw this video of The Fray covering Kanye West’s Heartless and thought the interaction of doodles and live footage worked really well. It’s not that this hand drawn approach hasn’t been done before it’s just very slick and appropriate for the music. Definitely worth a watch!

Character Building

August 16th, 2009

Having had a little advice and guidance from Harry Waine, an recent graduate from Solihull, I have recently completed my first attempt at bringing on of my characters to life in 3D. In this case it wasn’t through 3D studio max or Maya but instead good ol’ fashioned clay (or Miliput to be precise). I’m sure this will be the first of many but I am really thrilled with the finished article!

Living Technicolor

June 8th, 2009

Here is a brief glimpse of work from Kevin Dart,  Chris Turnham and Josh Parpan. Their pieces are just so retro, cool, simple yet dynamic – it’s just fantastic. I love the movie posters in particular, you can view it Kevin’s work here HERE or should you like all their work as much as me you can buy prints HERE – what a bargain!
