Inspiration Offline

June 4th, 2009

With so many ways to find inspiration online these days it’s rare for anyone to still keep an offline journal. A university lecturer once said to me that your journal is like your brain pickled on a shelf. A great place to store things you’ve found or been inspired by for a rainy day. Vandaley Design have a great article HERE on the benefits of looking for offline sources of inspiration and ideas. This is something I’ve done since I first started university although these days the scraps of paper, magazine covers, flyers etc live in a stack of drawers behind me waiting to be collated but they are so valuable to me in terms of feeding your creative brain a more varied diet.

Bridging The Gap

January 22nd, 2009

For a new client it can feel like a long, uncertain wait between initially signing of a brief and then the presentation of the solution. To reassure clients that their goals have been understood and give them a sense of the direction research and development is taking I often try to send them a set of digital mood boards. The are a great resource for further establishing trust and maintaining the level of excitement for a project, here is a recent example from a great project currently underway.
