How To: See The Light

January 28th, 2009

I have been doing a lot of trends research and studying the youth marketplace (16-25’s in this case) for a branding project currently in progress. One of the clear trends that seems to be everywhere online over the past year or so, is the use of light graffiti and dynamic light effects. Whether they are used to liven up the background of a dark website or fully interacting with the subject of photography they feel vibrant and engaging. Vandelay Design have just published a set of 40 tutorials HERE to help you create your own.

Vector + Pixel = Vexel

December 4th, 2008

Designflavr have published a really nice gallery of vexel artwork. Using a mixture of techniques similar to vector illustration but within Photoshop gives you more options and flexibilty and the results are so intriguing being somewhere between hyper-realistic and abstract. It also gives you the freedom to add to the image and alter colours and mood etc. You can view other examples here and psdtuts also have some tutorials to get you started.
