A great new resource for quirky, interesting and distinctive fonts and what’s more the pricing is really reasonable. Check it out HERE.

Another great TED talk, this time from David Carson HERE. This is a really humourous look at his work, experiences, the emotion of design and his willingness to take risks…

Thanks to Dave for the link to this quirky font foundry specialising in the bizzarre, unique, sometimes odd but most importantly – handmade fonts. Check you the entire collection HERE.

Design agency, Airside, have published an interesting couple of articles of their blog. They provide an insight into their design process for their recent project ‘Airplot’ for Greenpeace. I love seeing other designers skethwork and thought processes but what I really love is the aviodance of using the computer and the fact that they have a ‘make & do’ room! You can read about the ideas process HERE and the rollout of the design HERE.

I’ve been seeing a lot of really good examples of work from French designers recently. They seem to have a very strong typography bias and feel very ’80’s techno’ but Tyrsa was one example of high quality, attention to detail work that caught my eye. Check it out HERE.

I spotted this piece of packaging strolling round the supermarket the other day. I love the colours and typography, sadly I resisted temptation and didn’t buy the brownies (this time).

I know that these kind of inspiring showcases pop up on design blogs all the time but this one caught my eye more than most. It’s also encouraging that there is so much great work happening to sustain all these inspiring galleries. The bonus for this one from DesignMag is that it has a list of loads of typography websites at the bottom of the gallery containing some real gems!

The final resource is available from Chicago-based type foundry T.26 here. They have produced 2 volumes of wooden type impressions. Whilst the DVDs may seem highly priced compare to there usually competitive rates, the resources they contain are vast. And the real beauty of these 600dpi tiff files is that each ‘font’ has been produced with varying amounts of pressure applied so instead of ‘light, regular, bold’ and so on you get vary degrees of texture, depth, intensity and darkness. The only downside to this DVD is that they are only image files so you couldn’t realistically set large amounts of copy but unless you have any antique letterpress equipment lying around this is a must-have!
